All the visitors traveling to Bhutan required a visa, and must obtain a visa clearance prior to their travel to Bhutan. Bhutanese Embassies and Mission Offices abroad do not issue visa, thereby, all the visitors must processed their visa through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator registered with the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB). Visitors are required to send their quality scan passport copy that contains photo-page and the detail personal information to the Bhutanese tour operator, who will then apply for their visa.
The visa will be processed by the Tourism Council of Bhutan once the full payment of their trip (including a onetime USD $40 visa fee & return airfares for flights to Bhutan) has been wire transferred and received in the TCB bank account in Bhutan. After receiving the full payment the visa clearance will be processed within 3-4 working days, and forwarded to the Bhutanese tour operator, who will then forwarded to the visitors by fax or e-mail. At the point of entry into Bhutan, visitors are required to show their visa clearance letter at the immigration counter, the visa will then be stamped on their passport. But if the visitors are entering Bhutan through a land border crossing, two passport sized photos are required.
